Top Tips for Visiting Croatia
- Dubrovnik Old City Walls: The city wall walk is the signature experience — book entry tickets in advance and go early morning to beat the cruise ship crowds. Dubrovnik is one of Europe's most visited attractions and needs careful crowd management.
- Plitvice Lakes National Park: UNESCO-listed — the most visited national park in Croatia. Timed entry tickets are required; book weeks in advance for July–August. The Lower Lakes circuit (Route B) is the classic.
- Split: Diocletian's Palace is a lived-in Roman ruin — restaurants, bars, and apartments occupy the ancient corridors. The Riva waterfront promenade is excellent for evening strolling.
- Island hopping (Hvar, Brač, Korčula): Jadrolinija operates regular ferry and catamaran services from Split. Book accommodation on Hvar well in advance — it is Croatia's most popular island and fills up completely in summer.
- Slovenia combo: Croatia and Slovenia are natural itinerary partners. A route from Dubrovnik up the coast to Split, then Ljubljana and Lake Bled covers both countries on one Schengen visa.
